Supriya Joshi, is one of the rare souls who has been born for a purpose ! It is believed that God Himself decides who shall inherit that part of the core spirit that is the preserve of all arts. Though the arts are all soft and sensitive, appealing to the soul of humanity, it is the art of classical singing that touches every person very powerfully.
But, to blend an original musical composition to verse is an art itself. This Supriya does with natural gift and expertise. She gives a lilting, heavenly quality to the poetry transforming it to immortality with her divine voice.

Supriya Joshi is an inspired soul! Yet, she is a picture of humility and is a good-natured person.
Supriya was born in the north Indian city of Aligarh, and very early in life demonstrated a love for Hindi, Urdu, and Panjabi music. Life in Aligarh, gave her an ease with all forms of Urdu poetry, be it ghazals, nazams, khayal, dadra, thumri and kawwali. The ability to pronounce an urdu word in a way that the sensitivity is enhanced and the impact is felt deeply, is what the city gifted to Supriya, who was eager to learn and carry the knowledge into the realms of music with joy.
Ludwig van Beethoven says: "Music is...a higher revelation than all wisdom & philosophy."
So Supriya, taking to Beethoven's guiding principle, decided to dedicate her life to music and singing, which is still a very difficult decision for any person making a career choice as it requires complete commitment, personal surrender to God, experiments with new genres of music, being in sync with the changing times, and constant practice to reach higher and higher. Above all, originality of expression and style matters most.
She studied at Prayag Sangeet Vidyalaya, Allahabad for her Bachelor'sDegree in Vocal Music achieving it with distinction and honour.
Not satisfied with her learning she joined Indirakala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chattisgarh to pursue her passion in Music and after her Master's Degree dedicated herself to sustained years of research was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy for her academic work and thesis on Influence of North Indian Classical Music on Bollywood film music.
Supriya's passion for music is of an extraordinary quality. The unstoppable Supriya, further followed the highest traditions of the Guru-Shishya parampara and imbibed the nuances of music from such renowned Gurus like, Dr. T. Unnikrishnan, Shri Shamsuddin Shaikh, Shri Ravindra Jain and Shri Suresh Wadkar.
She has been trained by the legends of Indore and Kirana Gharana.
Sant Kabir said "Guru Govind Dou KhadeKakeyLagunPaayen / Balihari Guru Apno Govind Diyo Bataye" (God and Teacher, both stand in front of me, whose feet should I touch first / You O Teacher, I adore for showing me the way to God).
Supriya has held her Guru always in the highest esteem of the Indian tradition so well that she has been the recipient of the silent blessings throughout her 19-year musical career.
Music is Supriya Joshi's love, and that she lives to the fullest. If you observe her singing during performances, you'll find that she is singing with absolute devotion to the poetry, the musical composition and is connecting easily with The Almighty who resides in the heaven above, the Creator of all that is living and unseen.
Her creative expression is not limited to just singing. She writes lyrics, composes her own music and in involved in researching the thread between Ragas and their unique distinctions. She has composed more than 300 songs on her own standing.

Supriya, as a playback singer has sung many songs for Bollywood films. To name a few- Vivah, Satya 2, Salim, Sharma ji ki Lag Gayi, Pichaikaran, Bichagadu, Annadurai, and Velayudham.
Shakespeare says, "If music be the food of love, play on".
So Supriya goes on and on worshipping at the sacred altar of music. For her, one life is not enough to do justice to the prayer that is music.
Supriya Joshi sings a wide canvas in different genres and in many languages. One is left amazed to learn that she can sing in Hindi, Panjabi, Tamil, Malayalam, Rajasthani, Gujarati, Oriya, Marathi and Bengali.
Whether Supriya is singing light classical, film songs, devotional songs, meditational mantras, ghazals, nazams, and sufi compositions of the great Masters, she does justice to each style and genre, making them come alive in a magical way.
Needless, to say, Supriya is becoming a singer for the masses, taking part in national music festivals like Jashn-e-Rekhta; lead singer in musical presentations like IBADAT, Taj Mahotsav, Ruh-e-Majrooh, Jashn-e-Mohabbat, KaafilaYadon Ka, Goa Film Festival, and traditional seasonal festivals like Dandiya Raas, Dohela Mahotsav & Bhuana Mahotsav, both, of Madhya Pradesh Government. And the list goes endless as she has given almost over a thousand live performances.
Her latest music album on YouTube, "MaganRehna", based on Kabir's poetry is winning hearts and wide acclaim, as it preaches a philosophy of life of living in devotion with detachment.
Supriya has travelled across during her career in music, winning hearts and playing the Ambassador of Music by virtue of her talent and natural gift.
